D13 Harlan Anderson Photo Contest

The Harlan Anderson Photo Contest was organized by R/C Darrell Allison in 1973 in honor of Harlan Anderson, who was the "official" photographer of the Long Beach Power Squadron for a number of years. Anderson was an avid photographer who devoted himself to photographically recording activities of his squadron as well as those of District 13.

The annual contest is open to all members of USPS District 13. All entries were on display at the Fall Conference on 23 October, with the winners in various categories picked by a team of judges.

TSPS Wins in "Best of Show"
and "Best Sailing" Categories

2005's "Best of Show" and "Best Sailing" winners were entries of the Tokyo Sail & Power Squadron submitted by Hunter Brumfield and Kaoru Ijima. Brumfield's "Sailboats at Sunset" was taken using a digital camera at the Squadron's Hayama Sailing Day Oct. 16 on Sagami Bay south of Tokyo. Ijima's "Off Oshima Island" was taken by digital camera during a recent cruise of the Izu Islands. Oshima is about 35 nm south of Tokyo.

Squadron members are encouraged to photographically memorialize their activities, especially those that show "safe boating" at its fun best.
